The Eldoret National Polytechnic has inaugurated a new leadership team for its Students Union (TENPSU) following the recent impeachment of three officials over allegations of office misuse. The motion, initiated by a faction of students, resulted in the removal of Chairman Victor Kiplagat, Finance Cabinet Secretary Florence Imondo, and Secretary General Sam Omond.

During the swearing-in ceremony, newly elected Chairman Elijah Shollei, who previously served as the deputy chairman, emphasized the importance of unity among students. “This is a national polytechnic, and my mission is to ensure that this institution has a national picture. To my fellow comrades, please have confidence in us; our offices are always open,” Shollei stated.

Eugene Biketi, appointed as the new Finance Secretary, pledged transparency and collaboration, assuring students that their administration would operate differently from its predecessors. “We will work well, we won’t work like those who came before us,” he asserted.

Phlemon Kipruto, previously the Education Cabinet Secretary, has taken on the role of Secretary General. He committed to adhering to the polytechnic’s constitution, stating, “I’m going to deliver as per the constitution; everything needed for the comrades will be addressed as long as it aligns with our constitution.”

Chief Principal Dr. Charles Koech addressed the new leaders, urging them to work diligently to avoid facing similar impeachment challenges. He emphasized the responsibility they hold in fostering a positive environment for all students.

The new leadership team aims to rebuild trust within the student body and ensure that student concerns are addressed effectively in the coming term.
