Nyandarua DG Launches the Plug Mtaani Nyandarua Chapter
Nyandarua Deputy Governor Mathaara Mwangi launched the Plug Mtaani Nyandarua Chapter.
The 70 youths attended the training conducted by the Institute of Certified SIYB trainers( ICST) on the International Labour Organization program, Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) on how to generate innovative and sustainable business ideas.
Speaking during the launch, the deputy governor said that the county is keen on empowering the youth towards entrepreneurship.
“We will work with other partners to see to it that provision of financial support is attained for our county youth to benefit. The county is in the process of establishing a trade fund that will be accessible to the youth to grow their enterprises,” he said.
Mwangi further noted that the County is setting up an innovation center that will encourage youth innovation and entrepreneurship spirit.
Geoffrey Kilonzo, the Director and national coordinator of Plug mtaani, said that the program has put together a program that will go beyond the Awards to continuously empower the youth through various engagements.
He said the program is targeting the youth who can transform various sectors in every county and enable them to move from job seekers to job creators.
“The program will have three components focusing on training on innovation, packaging their business plans, and how to scale up their plans,” he said.
He noted that the mentorship and coaching will be availed to the youth reiterating that the program which will run for ten years will impact more than 200000 livelihoods across the country.
The competition will also see the top three winners in every county pocket Ksh 10m, Ksh 5m, and Ksh 2.5m respectively as counties also award their best three with Ksh 100,000, Ksh50,000 Ksh30,000 respectively.
