A faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has issued a stern warning to leaders from Mt. Kenya, urging them to refrain from invoking Raila Odinga’s name in discussions surrounding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impending impeachment.

Speaking at an event in Homabay County, ODM MP Millie Odhiambo criticized Gachagua’s allies for their pointed attacks on Raila, asserting that these remarks have backfired. “Gachagua told us not to touch the mountain, and we listened. Now that he has touched Raila, we are going to touch the mountain,” she declared.

Odhiambo revealed that the negative comments about Raila prompted her to reconsider her stance on the impeachment motion. “I had not signed the impeachment petition, but after they attacked Raila, I looked for the petition and signed it,” she said.

The ODM leader emphasized that the party is not embroiled in the internal conflicts within the Kenya Kwanza coalition. Instead, she stated that their primary focus is on supporting Raila’s bid for the African Union chairperson position.

The remarks highlight the ongoing tensions in Kenyan politics, with ODM leaders signaling that attacks on their leader will not be taken lightly. The party remains steadfast in its objectives, particularly regarding Raila’s international aspirations.
