The Ogiek council of elders held peace prayers on Tuesday in Uasin Gishu County ahead of the August 9th polls.

Speaking in Kesses Constituency, Joseph Kaila, a member of the council encouraged the youth to actively take part in peacebuilding with their youthful energy and capabilities.

“The Kenyan youth are very important in our country because they play an important role in nation building. Therefore, all youths should advocate for peace before, during, and after the elections. They should not in any way allow themselves to be used as a medium for political incitements by politicians,” said Joseph.

Kaila added the Ogiek community not only supports UDA party fully in the upcoming general elections but also believes in the development and change it will bring in terms of employment creation, health care, and free education that the party will bring if the Deputy President, William Samoei Ruto wins the presidency battle.

“UDA party is not only a national party but also a patriotic one. This party will help all citizens without detaching anyone towards the development of the country. We will join hands to make sure that his excellency William Wamoei Ruto becomes Kenya’s fifth president
Uasin Gishu County has previously been listed by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission to likely face violence.
