Ojwang Hands over PSM Docket,Officials Extol Him for Good Work
Senior county officials at the public service management praised outgoing CEC Sam Ojwang for his commendable work.
The officials, including governance chief officer Sammy Sichangi and directors Fred Ndumbi (Enforcement), Felix Sialo (Communications), Imeldah Agoi (HRM), Esther Nyamu (payroll), and subcounty administrators Florence Chemayek(Saboti)and Enock Nyaro (Saboti) described Ojwang as down-to-earth and persevering.
The officials expressed their appreciation during a handing-over ceremony at Kitale Town Hall.
Sichangi emphasized that Ojwang’s guidance would be missed in the department, even though he was stepping down for another department.
Sialo praised the outgoing CEC for his leniency towards those who made mistakes in his department and for his simplicity.
During the ceremony, Ojwang handed over his position to Julie Kichwen, who had recently swapped the education docket with him in a cabinet reshuffle by Governor George Natembeya.
Ojwang advised Kichwen to continue showing commitment in her new role, as Governor Natembeya values hard work and dedication.
The public service management department works closely with the Governor, and most of its offices serve him.
It comprises eight units, including Human Resource Management, Payroll, Communications, Enforcement, Information Technology, Administration, Registry, and special programs.
In her response, Julie Kichwen committed to working closely with the staff and listening to their input for the department’s improvement.
She acknowledged that she does not know everything and will rely on their expertise for the betterment of the department.
During the event, Kennedy Etiang, who previously held the position of PSM chief officer, handed over his office to Philip Kapten, the former head of the land docket.
Etiang has taken over the trade docket.
