A police officer assigned to secure the ongoing KCSE examinations at Kimulot Secondary School in Bomet County is on the run after being caught on CCTV ransacking the handbags of female invigilators.
According to the county police commandant Mathews Mangira, the officer allegedly entered a room where the invigilators were keeping their belongings, including phones and other valuables, and ransacked the bags.
Three victims have recorded statements after finding out the cash they had in their handbags could not be traced.
“One of the victims reported that she lost a hundred shillings, another lost nine hundred, while the other three hundred shillings, which prompted them to consult with the school administration to review the CCTV camera” added Mr Mangira.
In the video, the officer was seen entering the room and sitting in between some handbags, searching one by one, before leaving the room.
Mr Mangira at the same time said the detectives are reviewing the video to help come up with clear images that can be of help when executing the case against the suspect.
