The work of Kenya National Police Deposit Taking Sacco is evident for all to see

“The Cabinet Secretary in charge of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Hon. Simon Chelugui, EGH has today joined various invited guests at DCI Headquarters in a tree planting ceremony that was sponsored by the Kenya National Police DT Sacco.

Speaking at the event, CS Chelugui thanked the sacco board for organizing the event where he noted that today’s event will go a long way in supplementing the government’s effort in mitigating climate change whose effects are diverse with devastating effects on crops, livestock, infrastructure and the people.

The Chief Guest also enumerated the benefits of trees that include air purification, provision of housing to millions of species that protect us from deceases, cooling the streets and cities, protection against floods and water pollution, easing the mind during stressful times among others.

He went ahead to hail the initiative that was informed by the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign aimed at planting 15 billion trees by 2032 which was approved by the cabinet in December 2022.

In his remarks, the Director DCI Mr Mohamed I. Amin who was represented the his deputy Mr Ireri Kamwende also congratulated the sacco for sponsoring the event, noting that the magnanimous gesture would become a historical mark in the forest ecosystem.

Mr Amin further pointed out that today’s exercise was part of many such exercises albeit low profile, where the DCI in partnership with other corporate institutions and stakeholders have joined hands in restoring the Karura Forest ecosystem which is a great way of restoring the forest to it’s former glory.
