Richard Ndung’u, Chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce Kiambu Chapter, has raised alarm over the deteriorating business environment amid escalating political tensions in the country. In a recent interview, Ndung’u emphasized that the current high-stakes politics are exacerbating an already fragile economy, particularly in light of rising inflation rates.

Ndung’u described the prevailing political narratives as “toxic,” warning that they threaten to stifle the business ecosystem. “All is not well economically,” he stated, highlighting the urgent need for political leaders to shift their focus from divisive rhetoric to constructive policies that can enhance the business climate.

The Chairman urged politicians to recognize the impact of their words and actions on the economy and to work collaboratively towards fostering a more stable environment for businesses to thrive. “We need our leaders to channel their energies into developing policies and structures that will support economic growth, rather than engaging in divisive politics,” Ndung’u stressed.

His remarks come at a time when many businesses are struggling with the effects of inflation and uncertainty, making a stable political environment more critical than ever. Ndung’u’s call for unity and proactive measures is a plea for a return to dialogue and cooperation among leaders to safeguard Kenya’s economic future.
