Politicians Urged to Preach Peace, Before,During and After Elections
Politicians have been urged to preach peace and shun leaders spreading hate messages in the forthcoming elections.
According to Uasin Gishu peace ambassador Samkiz Mugo this will ensure that the country has peace before, during, and after elections.
“We have been going around the county sensitizing residents on the importance of peace since elections are around the corner and people will be used to cause violence.We want them to understand that elections will come and go but your neighbor will be there even after elections,” Samkiz said during a roadshow popularizing Daddy Owen Peace Festival which will take place on Sunday at Huruma Grounds.
The event which will bring on board local and national artists is meant to preach peace and urge residents to stay as brothers and sisters ahead of the 2022 general election since Uaasin Gishu was among the Counties that were hit by the 2007 postelection violence.
“We want to preach peace since when politics start there is war of words between aspirants, youths should not be used to cause chaos but should instead elect a person to whom will help them after the elections,” he added.
The peace caravan has been in Langas, Quinet,Kapseret, Kesses for the same mission.
“County and National leaders who will be in attendance will strictly talk about peace. We want to urge them that,if wananchi don’t want to vote for you don’t force them to let them decide for themselves,” Samkiz said.
“Those leaders holding positions now should not force Kenyans to vote for them, but instead persuade them,” he said.
Among the artists who will be performing include Daddy Owen Ruffton, size eight, and Ring tone, and local artists will also be given a chance to showcase their talents.
