President Ruto Urged Deal With Corruption at the County Level
Uasin Gishu Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD) programs officer Kipkorir Ngetich now wants President William Ruto to deal with corruption in the County government.
He says corruption in the County government that has taken a dangerous dimension where now the operations of the county government are managed by cartels.
“I want to call upon the president to firmly deal with the governors elected on the ruling party ticket who instead of delivering services to the wananchi at the grassroots level are now busy looting public resources through miss management/ financial malpractices,” said the Eldoret based Human Rights Activist.
Ngetich says this is done through a corrupt tendering process and kickbacks.
“Being elected under the ruling party they should be helping the president to deliver services at the grassroots level and maintain the good image of the government,” he added.
Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD) programs officer urged President William Ruto to urgently establish a presidential assessment team to move with speed to assess the performance of these country governments.
“Shockingly, cartels have taken hostage service delivery in the County Governments where they are busy looting /creating unfounded payment claims and using county resources as their family properties,” he noted.
He says the corruption index at the County Governments is worrying and something must be done urgently.
“We firmly support His Excellency President William Ruto declaration of war on graft and land grabbers,” he said.
