President Ruto’s Decision to Dismiss Cabinet Draws Widespread Praise
In a historic move that has captivated the nation, President William Ruto today dismissed all members of his Cabinet, including the Attorney General, a decision that has been met with widespread approval across Kenya’s political spectrum.
Milicent Omanga, a prominent political figure, hailed the President’s decision as a pivotal moment for the country. Omanga, who had previously commended Ruto for his willingness to listen to the concerns of Kenyans, saw today’s action as a confirmation of her belief in the President’s commitment to reform.
“I told you the President would listen; this bold move is a win for Kenya and Kenyans,” Omanga stated, expressing her satisfaction with the development.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna also praised the President’s decision. As the ODM Secretary General, Sifuna has been at the forefront of calls for governmental reforms, and he views the Cabinet reshuffle as a significant step towards meaningful change.
“Sacking all Cabinet Secretaries is a solid start,” Sifuna remarked, highlighting that the move aligns with the party’s ongoing efforts to advocate for reforms.
Meanwhile, Aden Duale, who has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary for Defence, expressed his gratitude for the new role. Duale acknowledged the trust placed in him by President Ruto and pledged to undertake the responsibilities of the position with dedication.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President William Ruto for entrusting me with the role of Cabinet Secretary for Defence,” Duale said.
This Cabinet overhaul comes on the heels of a series of youth-led protests under the banner of “Gen Z” calling for substantial changes in governance. The President’s decisive action is seen as a direct response to these calls for reform, marking a significant moment in Kenya’s political landscape.
The reshuffle has been embraced by a wide array of Kenyan leaders and citizens, who view it as a step toward greater accountability and progress in the nation’s governance.
