PS Mining Elijah Mwangi joins CS Salim Mvurya in Migori County
Ever since he took the mantle of leadership at the State Department of Mining, Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi has been keen to deliver on the much needed reforms at the Department.
Ps Mwangi is a strong pillar and works closely with the Cabinet Secretary, Salim Mvurya.
“We have gazetted the Artisanal Mining Committee in Migori county and other mining Counties with a view of lessening the burden of artisanal miners getting licenses.
We initiated the formation of Artisanal Miners Marketing Cooperatives at the counties and we are in the final stages of getting a Gold Refinery investor who will ensure value addition for gold is done withing the country.
Today I made my first visit of the year to the Macalder mining site, to check on the situation of artisanal miners as well as share with them the elaborate plans that we have for Gold and copper miners in the area.
We have agreed that they will adhere to the regulations, get licensed so as to decriminalize the sector. They have also issued me with their memorandum which I will look at together with the PS Elijah Mwangi.”
