Rev. Fr. Eliud Kirwa Magut to be Laid to Rest on Thursday
The late Rev. Fr. Eliud Kirwa Magut, a beloved priest of the Eldoret Diocese, will be laid to rest on Thursday, November 21, 2024, following a series of memorial services that began today. The priest, who served with dedication and love, passed away recently, leaving behind a deep legacy of faith and service in his community.
The funeral procession commenced today at 1:15 PM from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where the cortege made its way to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in Eldoret. A viewing of the body was held at 2:00 PM, allowing mourners to pay their last respects before the Requiem Mass, which began at 3:00 PM.
At 5:00 PM, the cortege will depart from the Cathedral for a journey to Holy Trinity Parish in Kaiboi, Nandi County. The faithful in the Kaiboi Deanery will gather for a Vigil Mass at 6:00 PM, followed by a mass at Kapteldon Parish at 9:00 PM, and another at Kapsisiywa Parish at midnight.
The late priest’s classmates will also gather to celebrate a special Mass at 4:00 AM on Thursday morning, honoring their long-time friend and colleague.
The funeral proceedings will conclude with the final interment of Rev. Fr. Eliud Kirwa Magut at his home parish, Kaiboi, on Thursday, November 21, at a ceremony that promises to be a fitting tribute to his years of service to the Church and the community.
