The Rural Women Organization Peace Link (RWOPL) held a meeting in Eldoret town aimed at discussing the accountability of the governance of Uasin Gishu county.

In conjunction with state and non-state actors, the RWOPL focused on addressing matters that affect the common mwananchi in Uasin Gishu County mainly on health facilities.

Addressing the press, Collins Lutta said the organization seeks to consolidate democratic dividends for sustainable transformation in Kenya.

“We are here to ensure accountability in the governance of Uasin Gishu county, that is, between the service givers like the duty bearers who includes the county government, the department of health, roads among all other departments are giving adequate services to the residents of Uasin Gishu county. Our focus is on the legal frameworks within which the people can engage with the County Government through public participation amongst other services the county government is delivering to the citizens,” said Lutta.

Lutta further said that the residents are hoping that the government will work closely with the people since the governor’s manifestos have been harmonized alongside people’s needs.

“We are also focusing on the health facilities which are the basic thing that every person needs. We want to ensure that local clinics and hospitals have enough drugs, nurses, and doctors to administer proper health care to all wananchi. We also sensitize the public on their role in the health facilities, that they get to understand their responsibilities in incidences where they cannot find drugs, through the scorecard issue.” remarked Lutta.

RWOPL is resolute to ensure a healthy and systematic relationship between the government and its citizens, to sensitize the wananchi to lobby with the doctors to address other matters that include shortage of drugs and nurses in the health facilities.
