Senator Mandago Defends President Ruto On CAS’s Appointment
Uasin Gishu senator Jackson Mandago has defended president William Ruto after he appointed fifty administrative secretaries (CASs).
Speaking to the press, Mandago cited the need for human resources to transform the economic state of the country.
“For the time being we need some Kenyans, with some skills to be able to support this agenda of transformation. Therefore, the issue of bloated is just a scapegoat for those who just want to castigate this government.” Said senator Jackson Mandago.
The senator accused those against the appointments terming them hypocrites.
“If you say we cannot hire because our economy is doing well, what do you say about the shortage of health workers, are you telling us also that we should not hire teachers? Because we have a serious economic problem. If you ask me, I’ll tell you this is just a scapegoat for talking about bloated and so on.” he added.
Mandago said parliament will be there to hold to account those given different responsibilities.
“Therefore, because we want to bring back the economy within a short time, we need men and women with the capacity to assist the executive, to make sure they deliver on the agenda. We shall call you out when there is laxity in performance because we don’t have the luxury of time of people enjoying the trappings of positions without delivering to Kenyans,” remarked Mandago.
President William Ruto nominated 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries to serve in his government. This is after they successfully went through vigorous interviews conducted by Public Service Commission. The nominees will be vetted by the National Assembly before appointment by the President.
