SHORTLISTED TRADESMEN/WOMEN REPORT AT EMBAKASI GARRISON FOR INTERVIEWS

Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces Personnel and Logistics (ACDF P&L), Major General Aphaxard Kiugu, today officiated the kick-off of the shortlisted tradesmen/women’s interviews held at the Embakasi Garrison.

In his opening address, Maj Gen Kiugu welcomed the candidates and reassured them of KDF’s commitment to ensuring a free and fair recruitment process.
“We understand the unemployment challenge that you the youth are facing and we are glad that you have had the opportunity to be here today,” he said. “That being so, I would like to urge you to adhere to the set KDF rules and regulations, Covid protocols and most importantly, shy away from participating in recruitment malpractices.”

The Chief of Personnel, Brigadier Elijah Gatere, together with the Senior Recruitment Officer (SRO), Colonel Clement Nyakundi, also reiterated the Maj General’s remarks with Brig Gatere advising the hopeful candidates to be on the lookout for cons, be it uniformed or otherwise, who might coerce them into thinking they could influence the recruitment process.

“This recruitment exercise is, and will always will be free and fair regardless of one’s background and ethnicity,” he said. “As long as you’re a Kenyan citizen and meet the requisite qualifications, you will all be afforded equal opportunity to be part of us.”

Also present during the exercise were the Chief Recruiting Officer (CRO), Brigadier George Okumu and the Senior Medical Officer, Colonel Dr Ngololo among other officers that constitute the recruitment team.

The exercise will take three days which involves medical, physical check up as well as professional interviews in their respective proffesions. The successful candidates will then report to the Recruits Training College (RTS) in Eldoret for further processing and commencement of basic military training.
