Stakeholders in Matatu Sector Embrace Electric Cars

Stakeholders in the public transport sector popularly known as the matatu sector have welcomed the move to embrace electric cars in a bid to reduce the carbon footprint and in so doing, mitigate the effects of climate change.

Association of Matatu Operators Chairman Jamal Ibrahim on Friday flagged two electric cars that will be plying the South C – Eastleigh Route.

He welcomed His Excellency President William Ruto announcement of waiving duty for the first 100,000 electric cars that are going to be imported.

He said there are other 98 cars that are in the high seas being imported . He called upon other players in the matatu industry to flow suit.

Once the car is fully charged, it can take it for 400km.
