Kakamega County Governor Fernandes Barasa has asked Senator Boni Khalwale to stop peddling falsehoods that he (Senator) brings money to Kakamega County.

Governor Barasa termed the statement as erroneous, meant to mislead and misinform the public.

“The Senate only approves funds proposed by the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) in accordance with the formula approved by the Commission your role as Senator is to provide meaningful oversight of the County Government and not to mislead people,” said the second Kakamega Governor.

Barasa was speaking at a workshop organized to review the Second Generation Draft County Intergrated Development Plan (CIDP).

The Kakamega Govenor said that his administration has allocated Ksh2 Million for each ward starting this financial year as bursary kitty with every needy and deserving learner receiving a minimum of Ksh 3000/- and Ksh 8000/- for dayscholars and boarders respectively, dispelling inaccurate information in a section of the media by the senator that the County will give Ksh 800/- as bursary support to learners.

“To ensure stakeholders verify inclusion of their proposals in the 2023-27 CIDP I am directing the Department of Finance and Economic Planning to conduct a validation exercise once the Executive reviews the 5-year plan document,” said the Kakamega governor

He further challenged the County Revenue Agency to creatively and innovatively identify more revenue streams in order to enhance the County’s Own Source Revenue for actualization of his manifesto to the residents of Kakamega County.
