Suspects of Chiloba’s Death Arraigned in Eldoret Court, Detained For 21 Days
The main suspect of Edwin Kiptoo’s Chiloba death , Jackton Odhiambo was arraigned in Eldoret Law Court with other four suspects on Monday.
The other suspects namely Ramsy Chepwai,Jean Ochieng, Emmanuel Omondi and Dennis Litali , this follows the brutal killing of the deceased at his residential place last week.
Senior Principal Magistrate, Rich Odenyi said that the mention of Chiloba’s case will be on 31st January.
Chief Inspector in charge, Stephen Mumbi had requested the court to give them 21 to carryout more investigations.
“We request the Court to give us 21 days to carry out post mortem at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) to know the cause of the death and retrieve Closed Circuit Television (Cctv) footage that was captured at Tamasha where Chiloba was last seen on New Year’s Eve.”said Mumbi
Mumbi said that the suspects will remain in custodyfor their own safety as the investigations are underway.
Guidancia Tanui the aunt to the deceased said they are doing follow ups to get justice for Chiloba.
“Kenyans should be kind to the family because we were not aware about Chiloba being a gay and engaging himself with LGBTQ community,we are innocent and sent our boy to the University as a Christian.”said Tanui
Tanui pleaded with Kenyans to seize from the abuse on social media since the family got the information about gayism on social media.
She said that Chiloba used to be Christian Union leader inHigh school before joining University of Eldoret and they least excepted him becoming a gay.
The sister to Chiloba,Gladys Chemutai applauded the government for standing by their side and putting efforts to investigate the matter of Chiloba’s death.
This is after Jackton Odhiambo admitted that he killed Chiloba because the deceased cheated on him with another gay.
The suspects stated to have helped one another in moving the metallic box that had been stuffed with deceased body into a vehicle with no number plate.
