Terry Chebet Maina To Vie For Ainabkoi Parliamentary Seat On an Independent Party Ticket
Terry Chebet Maina now says she will be vying for the Ainabkoi Parliamentary seat using an independent ticket.
“I have heard you and I believe we all want the best for our Constituency and our Country; Kenya. I am offering myself for election as an independent candidate because I believe that the National Assembly is the right platform where I can champion changes that will alleviate us the desperate levels of social and economic challenges that we live through daily. God bless you. God bless Ainabkoi,” said Terry Chebet Maina while speaking to the press.
Maina Vied for the UDA party ticket but she became position two.
“The UDA party primaries were marred with massive irregularities and the people of Ainabkoi did not practice their democratic right of choosing a leader they like,” she added.
The seat is currently held by William Chepkut who is serving his first term in office.
She says her motivation for running for the position of Member of Parliament is to give back to society by providing leadership.
“I want to give back the leadership skills and the competence I have acquired over the years to my Community at the grassroots level. I see a lot of challenges that our people face and I believe that the National Assembly is the right platform to bring in legislation and provide leadership that will benefit the electorate,” Maina said.
She says she has the experience, integrity, and passion for helping people and will get things done.
“Please elect me. In me, you have a leader. In me, you have a listener. In me, you have a person who gets things done. I am running on the slogan of Mama na Kazi and ask that we work together to make our Constituency a model society. I will commit my time and energy to ensuring the living standards of the people of the Ainabkoi are improved over the 5year term. There will be no more getting stuck on impassible roads when the rains come.” he said.
Terry says she will ensure that the CDF funds are used effectively and prudently for the welfare of Ainabkoi people.
“The utilization of CDF has not been at optimal with some funds remaining unutilized at the end of the financial year.
It is sad that sixty years down the road from independence, some parts of Ainabkoi have no access to electricity, water, or motorable roads, and affording school fees is a challenge. My priority will be to address these issues” she says.
She says concerning bursary disbursement, the Community is the one that will decide the students who deserve the same.
“When it comes to representation and parliamentary debates, I will ensure that issues of my Constituents are articulated effectively and brought up for legislation. I believe the people of Ainabkoi will be happy to see their MP debate from an informed position.
Terry was born and raised at Dry’s Farm, Ainabkoi, and is married to Eng. Wilson Maina of Olare, Burnt Forest, Ainabkoi. She is a mother of 3 adult children and a leader with many years of experience. She retired early from a Senior Management role in the banking sector to engage in volunteerism for social impact.
She has been a member of the Board of Directors at NSSF, AFFA, KICC, University of Eldoret, ACT!, and is currently the National Chairman for the Kenya Girl Guides Association. She seeks to become a Member of the National Assembly for Ainabkoi so that she can give back her experience, competence, and commitment for the good of society.
