The Champions’ Lead As Others Follow In Tharaka Games
A winning attitude was pivotal as Uasin Gishu’s men sunk Laikipia County in an electric match at the Kenya Youth Inter-Counties Games in Tharaka Nithi County.
At the games that are getting underway at Chuka University grounds, Uasin Gishu men overcame Laikipia County 3-1 to come top of Pool D, on Wednesday.
The men from Uasin Gishu won the first set 25-21, and Laikipia considered one of the biggest challengers to ‘the champions’, won the second set 25-21.
However much as Laikipia started earning points due to their cheering morale, Uasin Gishu maintained their winning attitude, coming victorious 25-15 and 25-20 in the third and fourth sets to collect six points and top the pool.
In their first pool match, the men’s team hammered Nyandarua County 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Uasin Gishu ladies, who are already top their pool with six points, having beaten Busia 3-1 and Embu 3-0 on Tuesday, play against Kilifi County on Thursday morning after a day-long rest on Wednesday.
“Our teams are well focused for victory at the games and they already top their respective pools,” Team Manager, Nicholas Busienei, said.
Busienei adds: “We are determined to fly Uasin Gishu County’s flag high, after all, we are the champions.”
Chief dè Mission, Henry Mukholwe, said the matches played so far indicate that the teams are on form and raring for victory.
