The University of Eldoret Gets VC
The University of Eldoret now has a new Vice Chancellor.
This is after the Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu appointed Prof Thomas Kimeli Cheruiyot.
He takes over from Prof Teresia Akenga whose time in office expired who served as Vice Chancellor for ten years.
He will serve for a renewable term of five years.
Prof Thomas Kimeli Cheruiyot hails from Elgeyo Marakwet.
Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich welcomed his appointment saying since independence the County has never had a Vice Chancellor despite having top-notch academicians.
“We thank the President, CS Machogu for Appointing Prof Thomas Cheruiyot to be the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Eldoret. He was our KV University task force chair and has participated in shaping the Kenya University education sector for years,” he said.
“His humility and hard work will take the University to greater heights,” Governor Rotich added.
