Tuwani’s Murefu Bridge construction to be completed in three Weeks
A bridge in Tuwan ward, Trans Nzoia County whose construction is ongoing is expected to take three weeks to complete.
Addressing the press after visiting the site on a progress tour, Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory said the Murefu bridge contractor is moving fast and working excellently.
Kapkory said on Tuesday that her government allocated sh.8 million for the project.
She said she is impressed with the ongoing construction work and hopes the contractor will complete the work within the projected time.
This she said will help with easy transportation and movement of people from Tuwan shopping centre and estate to the neighbouring Mitume estate after its completion.
The bridge she said is sixty percent complete.
She said besides the bridge, the county government has heavily invested in health and infrastructure to improve people’s livelihoods.
The county government according to Kapkory will soon launch the construction of Tom Mboya Mother and Child Health facility in the same ward.
“We are also committed to fully completing our Teaching and Referral hospital whose construction started some years ago. We have also prioritized the Muliro market because we want to see it functional within the shortest time possible “said Kapkory.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by area Member of County Assembly Francis Were and Governor’s Delivery Unit Director Samuel Ereng.
Were said, the previous bridge was temporary and was destroyed three years ago by heavy rains and running water, an incident that has hampered transportation in the area.
“Currently, Tuwan estate pupils who attend Eugene Wamalwa primary school in Mitume estate face hurdles in getting to school using a very long route. I am very happy that this bridge will finally help to resolve the difficulties “said Were.
Were pointed out that the Murefu water spring on Mitume side cannot serve Tuwan estate due to the absence of the bridge. This he added causes suffering for those who depend on the spring for water provision.
