Uasin Gishu Citizen-based reporter John Wanyama has donated foodstuffs to Jawabu Rehabilitation Center in Kipkaren.
Speaking to the press Wanyama said this is a move to help the less fortunate in the society as the county is suffering from hard economic times.
“As a journalist from Uasin Gishu we come to visit children who are able differently just to put a smile into their faces by donating some foodstuffs which will help them from one or two days,” said Wanyama after donating the foodstuffs.
The children come as far as Kilifi, Thika, Laikipa among others.
“I am calling upon Kenyans from all divides to come to their rescue by donating anything small they have since it might help one or two children. You can donate music instruments, television, and unused clothes since they are our brothers and sisters and need our help,” he added.
Jawabu Rehabilitation Center in Kipkaren has over 100 children who are abled differently.
Wanyama is a seasoned Citizen TV reporter based in Uasin Gishu County.
Turbo Parliamentary aspirant on ODM party ticket Samkiz Mugo also called on well-wishers to come out and help those children since thye are going through a hard time.
“Today we have donated some foodstuffs but much is needed if you think it’s a joke come and see the challenges the children are facing the little you have can put a smile on the children’s faces. Let’s give them the little you have and God will bless you,” he said.
Judith Korir from Jawabu Rehabilitation Center says after the prices of commodities skyrocketed it has been hard to feed the children.
“We want to thank Wanyama and other sponsors for coming to our rescue but we need more since despite the hard economic time children must eat, get a bath, pampers, and also clothes. We urge sponsors to come out and help us in feeding our children so that they cannot sleep angry,” she said
“One child uses 4 pampers per day but we cannot afford and with the hiking prices it’s hard for us,” she added.
Among those who contributed include Unga Limited, and Turbo ODM aspirant Samkiz Mugo among others.
