The County Government of Uasin Gishu proudly joined the global celebration of Customer Service Week, observed annually during the first week of October. This year’s festivities centered around the theme “Above and Beyond,” which underscores the vital importance of exceptional service in enhancing the lives of residents and fostering a strong community spirit.
Kicking off the celebrations, Governor His Excellency Dr. Jonathan Bii led a heartfelt event that featured various activities aimed at honoring the dedicated public servants who work tirelessly to meet the needs of the community. One of the highlights of the day was the ceremonial cutting of a cake, symbolizing the unity and commitment of the county’s employees to providing exemplary service.
“We honour our County employees and departments for their dedication to providing exceptional customer service, which is instrumental in improving the well-being of our residents,” Governor Bii remarked, reflecting on the importance of service in local governance.
The governor’s remarks were complemented by insights from Elijah Kosgey, the County Executive for Public Service Management. He emphasized the significant impact that individual interactions can have on public perception and community trust. “Every interaction is an opportunity to make a difference,” Kosgey stated, urging employees to adopt a mindset of service excellence. He encouraged staff to engage with residents genuinely, ensuring their needs are not only met but anticipated.
Adding to the dialogue, Chief Officer Jelagat Tirop emphasized the crucial role of teamwork in delivering effective customer service. “Active listening and understanding the needs of our residents are essential skills for all of us,” she said. Tirop highlighted the importance of tailoring services to meet specific community needs, advocating for an approach that prioritizes responsiveness and adaptability.
The event was further enriched by the presence of notable guests, including CAC President Dr. Mohamed Wagih Azam, County Executives, Chief Officers, and Directors. Their collective participation underscored a shared commitment to fostering a culture of service excellence within Uasin Gishu County.
