UASIN GISHU GOVERNOR JONATHAN BII LANDS IN KOREA FOR AN INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim has landed at the Incheon International Airport, Seoul, South Korea.

Governor Chelilim is attending the 7th United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Congress and Summit of local and regional leaders, themed “Local and Regional Governments Breaking Through as One.” The event will be at the city of Daejeon between 10th and 14th October 2022 at the Daejeon Convention Centre.

While in Korea, Governor Chelilim will hold talks with the Mayor LEE Jang Woo of Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Secretary General of UCLG Africa Dr. Jean-Pierre Elong Mbasi among other leaders.

The Summit will be attended by over 3,000 participants from across the globe. It will bring together local governments to work in harmony and engage in cooperation to contribute to peace and the advancement of humanity.

Some of the speakers in the congress includes the former UN Secretary General Ban-ki Moon, the WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the Special Representative of the of the UN on Disaster Risk Reduction Mami Mizutori. There will be over 350 Speakers and over 90 sessions.

Governor Bii is expected to visit Songdo Smart City, museum of Arts and Sciences, Parks and Arboretums and various places of interest in Daejeon and Seoul to to benchmark for similar projects already initiated in Eldoret that has been planned for the future city.

He is accompanied by the Eldoret Municipal Board Chairman Mr. Julius Kitur, the Chief of Staff Mr. Nicholas Chepkwony and the Eldoret Municipality Manager Mr.Tito Koiyet.
