Uasin Gishu residents have faulted president William Ruto’s cabinet for not including one of their own.

Uasin Gishu county is the rural home of president William Ruto.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret town they said despite coming from the region, they were not allocated any cabinet slot.

“President Ruto should have chosen at least one individual from the Nandi
community, especially in the ministry of agriculture. People from the Nandi community are farmers yet he has neglected us and chosen someone from Meru who does not understand the sector well,” said Vincent Kipchumba.
Charles said Ruto has provided regional balance in his cabinet selection by ensuring that all the regions are represented.

“He has tried to provide regional balance by ensuring at least all regions are covered like Nyanza and western. Only a few regions like Turkana and Uasin Gishu where residents are complaining that he did not consider them,” said Charles.

Henry Njoroge, a matatu driver, believes that the president has made a wise decision in his selection and has provided gender balance in his cabinet
“Women should be happy. President Ruto’s government is considerate in terms of gender. He has fit in women by giving them seven positions. We should be proudof that”.

Elgeyo Marakwet resident hopes that Kipchumba Murkomen, the road and
transport minister will use the opportunity given to him to the better road network in
the county.
“We are happy that Murkomen has been given a position in the cabinet. Our hope
is he will construct and oversee the completion of already started road projects We
plant potatoes and when it rains, they can not be transported because of poor impassable roads” said Isaac Chemungu.
President William Ruto appointed his cabinet on Tuesday after holding a meeting with the outgoing cabinet secretary early in the day.
