Victims of the First Choice Recruitment Agency May Find Justice After Their Petition was Heard By Uasin Gishu County Assembly

Victims of the First Choice Recruitment agency and the Finland scholarship program may finally find justice after two petitions were tabled before the ad hoc committee formed by the Uasin Gishu County assembly to look into their long unending battles.

This comes after several residents of Uasin Gishu County had applied for education and employment opportunities in Western and Middle East Countries only for it to be false promises.

4,000 Kenyans that were promised to travel to Qatar were affected.

“Yesterday and today we have had very sound and cordial participation with the county assembly about some matters of concern that we had and we want to appreciate it so much. It has always been in the public domain for quite some time over these issues of Finland Scholarships and First Choice Recruitment. At some point, we decided to petition the county assembly and they gave us yesterday and today.” said Rueben Arap Koech, lead petitioner.

Citing a right to reply, the ad hoc committee has called on representatives from the First Choice Agency to come up and issue their side of the whole incident before issuing their final report.

“We have received two petitions, one on the Finland scholarship program and another on First Choice Agency. Things that stood out today are first these issues were not before the County Assembly Francis and with the petition we will oversight. As a committee, we have not made any decisions because the accused has the right to reply to the said claims. We have given them a day to do so and afterward we will give our verdict. noted Muya Mwangi, MCA Langas Ward.

“First, I want to thank our leaders for tabling a petition on this matter. We are pleading with our County leadership to bring us justice for this matter has affected many including even those from neighboring counties,” remarked Patrick Yego, a resident Kamagut Ward.

Calling for the streamlining of agencies that have turned out to be cash cows due to the lack of laws and regulations guiding on how they should operate in our counties and country at large.

“We are from the county assembly over an issue to do with a petition on agencies that promised our youths job and employment opportunities overseas after collecting their money. This initiative has been running since 2018, there are those who went but we are here for the sake of those who never went but paid. Some agencies have made him a cash cow and with the lack of laws and regulations guiding these agencies, many will fall victim in our counties and country at large. We appealing for help to the victims of these cons. We made our petition to the County Assembly and now we wait for the verdict.” Added Kimutai Kurui.
