Uasin Gishu Jackson Mandago has applauded resident s for electing him as governor for the last ten years.
He says it’s a privilege and he doesn’t take it for granted.

“I am grateful to the people of this county for giving me this opportunity to serve as your governor for two terms. I leave the office as a proud governor for the achievements we’ve been able to achieve as a county government of Uasin Gishu.” Said Governor Jackson Mandago.

Governor Mandago stated that both the County assembly and Executive have worked together to achieve this in ensuring the county moves ahead.

“We have worked seamlessly in ensuring each segment of government does what they are supposed to do in order for the people to realize developments.” noted Mandago.

Highlighting road networks and infrastructure as one of their greatest achievements with sidewalk ways ensuring public safety around town within the estates, improved business environment for business people, improved health sector services, enhanced water provision increasing from 48% to about 75% , sewerage access from 17% to 52% currently, youth empowerment and training.

“Today as we go towards the end of our term, we can say as a county that one of the greatest things we’ve achieved is a better connectivity in terms of road network and infrastructure across the county. The sidewalk ways have ensured public safety to and fro the estates. Adding that improved business environment for business people with well lit security lights at night improving security and creating more time for business increasing income and livelihoods of the people of this county.” Said Jackson Mandago.

On matters health, the governor stated that all facilities within the county are NHIF accredited, increased number of staff and have enough drugs within the facilities to serve the people of Uasin Gishu County.

“We’ve managed to improve our health sector; all our facilities are now NHIF accredited, increased the number of staff in our facilities and have enough drugs within them. The biggest challenge remains to be shortage of personnel and we hope the next government will increase allocation to counties to 35% so that counties can recruit more health workforce to be able to deliver services.” Claimed the governor.

On youth empowerment and training, the governor says one of their strongholds and legacies is in reducing the gap in terms of availability and skills within the county and particularly technical skills
“I can tell you today, we are the leading county in terms of enrolling students to the technical training institutes. If you go to all the TTIs in this county and around the neighboring counties, they are actually students from this county, therefore enhancing skills level and being ready in terms of development.” Quoted Mandago.

The governor called on all constitutional institutions to remain non partisan ahead of the general election.

“As we go to election I want all constitutional institutions that are supposed to be non- partisan should actually remain non – partisan. I want to call out n DCI because they are no longer doing what they are supposed to do. They are actually partisan. And I say that because people are issuing inflammatory statements and because they are from a particular coalition they are not taking action.” Mandago added.
