Hilton hotel is a five-star hotel located in Nairobi CBD.Hilton hotel through the international hotels limited owns 59.42% of the hotel while the rest is owned by Tourist Development Corporation in Kenya.

The Hotel is located in Nairobi’s central business district (CBD), within blocks of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre and the Masai Market.

Hilton Group of Hotels owns 59.42 percent of the Hilton Hotels through International Hotels Limited while the Kenya Tourist Development Corporation owns the rest. 

It was opened on 7th December 1969 by the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. However, it is coming to an end after 53 years of operating.

This has been confirmed by the Director of the Kenya Tourism Board(KTB). The hotel will cease its operations on 31st December 2022. The hotel has 287 rooms,45 twins,185 doubles,7 suites,22 pool rooms, and 27 executive rooms

“I can confirm that Hilton Hotel will shut down in December this year. We have received the notice from them. I’m not sure what has occasioned the decision, but I know business has not been looking up for the hotel, especially after Covid-19 struck,” the KTB director said.

It will be remembered that most of the hotels were closed due to the COVID 19 pandemic which made the tourism sector to be highly affected.

“Following extensive discussions with the hotel ownership, Hilton Nairobi will close its doors for the last time on 31st December 2022 and cease operations,”
