He this evening shares with us how he spent his day:

“Amidst the Climate Summit proceedings, I took part in the Adhoc Committee tasked with investigating WorldCoin’s operations and activities in Kenya. This committee was formed in response to a public outcry following revelations that WorldCoin, through their Kenyan agents Marketing Sense, was systematically gathering data via eye biometrics from unsuspecting members of the public, primarily youth, in exchange for a fee of Ksh. 7,500.

These actions raised significant concerns regarding the intentions and objectives behind this data harvesting, as well as the security of both individual and national data. During the investigative process, representatives from WorldCoin, under their parent company Tool for Humanity, provided insights into their cryptocurrency technology and its transformative potential in the realm of global technology, especially in the age of artificial intelligence.

Our committee conducted thorough interrogations of key figures within WorldCoin, including CEO Alex Blania, Chief Legal Officer Thomas Scott, and Public Policy Head Sam Sadle. They emphasized that all ORB-verified World ID holders were entitled to claim a complimentary share of WorldCoin.

However, the central issue at hand is not solely technological but rather the legality of these operations and the security of the data collected. Crucial questions persist: What is the intended purpose of WorldCoin’s data collection? How is this data being stored and protected? Are individuals fully informed about the usage of their data and its potential consequences?

Addressing these concerns is imperative to ensure the protection of individuals’ rights and privacy, irrespective of the method employed for data acquisition. The Adhoc Committee is diligently working to unearth answers to these pressing questions, ultimately safeguarding the interests of Kenyan citizens.”
