If you experienced any kind of sexual abuse, you’re likely to find yourself in pornography and masturbation as an unconscious attempt to scratch the itch that was created by the intrusion and the wound.

If you get violated by a same sex person, you may drift to same sex perversions like gay porn because the energy was injected into you.

If you grew up under an alcoholic father, you’re prone to becoming alcoholic or marrying one. The experience may have been traumatising, but it was normalised in your mind.

If you had an alcoholic mother, your view of the world is deeply distorted, and you’re prone to the worst forms of mental illnesses like depression or schizophrenic spectrum. This is because an unstable mother produces the deepest fear in the child since she’s the primary source of attachment, just as a dad is the primary source of security. An unstable and emotionally volatile dad, therefore, makes the child feel anxious and deeply fearful about life in general. An addicted and unhinged mother, because that’s what alcohol makes a parent, makes the child feel lost in the world. To make sense of the world, the child may split their existence into a fantasy world to somehow find relief. This fantasy reality is what complicates into avoidant and detachment disorders. That is, if one doesn’t seek treatment on time.

If trauma is not treated, it changes you into a different creature altogether.

In Africa, psychological well-being was not valued until recently, and yet alcoholism and domestic violence were rampant and almost accepted. If you were a victim, you should seek treatment, and you’ll be surprised to find that you’re among many others.
