WOMEN IN UASIN GISHU LOBBY FOR NANCY CHEMUTAI SANG AS COUNTY ASSEMBLY SPEAKER
Women in Uasin Gishu have asked MCAs to elect Nancy Chemutai Sang as the County Assembly Speaker.
In a statement issued by a Women Lobby Group Chairlady Ruth Mutai, the women said Mrs Sang has demonstrated her leadership capabilities having served as a nominated MCA in the past.
The lobby group also pointed out that, Mrs Sang, who hails from Kapseret Sub County will not only bring gender representation but will also ensure there is regional balancing in the county’s top leadership.
In the August General Elections, the larger Eldoret North got both the Governor and the Senate seats while East boasts of the Woman Rep, Deputy Governor and Nominated Senator’s post.
The women said Mrs Sang is empathic and approachable to many in need of assistance.
‘She is charismatic and courageous, and has shown her leadership skills in position she has served in the past,”said Jane Wairimu.
Nancy Sang is the only female aspirant to formally declare her interest in the male dominated race.
Sang says she is seeking to bring a paradigm shift encompassing women and youth away from the traditional norm of leaders.
She now joins the crowded field which include;Former Senator Isaac Melly, Former MP James Bett, Former MCAs David Singoei and Josphat Lowoi, Tony Kiprotich, Philip Muigei, Jeff Chebwai, Haron Sitienei, Nancy Sang, Ambrose Tarus, Meshack Rono, Paul Chepkeny, and Frank Murgor.
