Youths Urged to Access Information on Opportunities Both in County and National Government
National Youth Council Chairman Uasin Gishu County and SMATKKEY Organization Program manager Collins Kemboi has called on youths to ensure they access information concerning opportunities in both the County and National Government.
Speaking to the press after meeting youths from all the thirty Wards in Uasin Gishu Kemboi said youths lack opportunities due to a lack of information.
“We have found most of the time there is lack of information which has made most of them to miss job opportunities, therefore we were educating them on the opportunities that are available both in the National and County governments,” said Kemboi while speaking to the press.
“It’s sad that youths have been lagging behind due to lack of information,” he added.
The County Youth Leader Narrated that at the moment they are at high levels of engaging with County Government of Uasin Gishu department of Youths and sport’s, Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth affairs, Stakeholders and Youth sector working groups in advocating and championing for the completion of the county Youth policy draft to be in place so as to addresa,” he noted.
The SMATKKEY Organization Program manager said youths face challenges such as crime, unemployment, and poverty line discrimination where women must sleep with one to get employment.
“Before government helps us as youths we have decided we help ourselves through accessing information of the employment opportunities available so that we do not always cry for the government to help us but also do something to the government. We want the government to create a conducive environment for us,” he added.
Benard Kemboi says “We want to ensure that our youths benefit from both the National and County government since there are a lot of opportunities such as NYS, Kazi Mtaanai CDF.Youths should apply for the same,” he said.
“Youths should not be swayed by politicians who want to use them to get political, lets us engage in constructive activities that will add value to our lives. Politicians should instead create job opportunities for the youths,” he added.
