Youths Urged to Maintain Peace as the Country Heads to the August Polls
Moiben UDA coordinator Dominic Korir has urged youths to maintain peace as the Country is heading to the August polls.
Speaking to the press Korir called upon the youth to maintain before, during, and after the August elections.
“It is our duty as the youth to ensure that we live in peace and harmony during this critical period of elections. We should understand that elections will come and go but our neighborliness will always remain and we don’t have a spare Country. Let us be ambassadors of peace.” Moiben UDA coordinator said.
He further criticized politicians who use the youth for political incitement and unrest during the campaigns, saying stern actions should be taken against them.
“It is very sad that the people we expect to lead us are the same ones who use the youth for incitement. This time as youth we have opened our eyes and we will not allow ourselves to be used by politicians to cause violence for them to get political mileage. We refuse to be used by politicians to create an uneasy environment. We will vote and go back home to await the results, whoever carries the day we will support him, ” he added.
Korir urged the youth to vote for leaders who will prioritize their needs and who will bring change in the country and not those who want to use them for their own good.
He called upon politicians to desist from uttering inflammatory statements which might lead to incitement saying it might lead to war.
“I want to call upon politicians to be ambassadors of peace and should not allow themselves to use incitive words that might divide Kenyans based on their political and tribal affiliations. They should seek votes peaceful since we are the ones who will elect them,” he added.
