Ziwa Technical Training Institute is set to make history with its first-ever graduation ceremony on June 28, 2024. The institution, which has grown significantly since its establishment in 2011, will see 1,500 students receive their diplomas and certificates, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s journey.

Mr. Mibei Joseph, Chief Principal of Ziwa Technical Training Institute, shared insights into the institute’s development and achievements. “Ziwa Technical Training Institute came into existence due to the efforts of President William Ruto, who was then the MP for Eldoret North. He inaugurated the institution in 2014 and laid the foundation stone for the administration block in 2016,” said Mr. Joseph. “His vision to transform a proposed youth training center into a technical training hub has been instrumental in our growth.”

Ziwa Technical Training Institute is among the top technical institutions in Uasin Gishu, with a current student population of about 2,000, spanning various levels from artisan to diploma courses. The institute boasts seven admitting departments, including Electrical, Mechanical and Automotive, Hospitality, Business and Environmental Studies, Information and Informatics, and Agriculture and Environmental Studies. The Electrical and Electronics department stands out as a center of excellence, equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities provided by the government.

The institute’s commitment to academic excellence is reflected in its impressive performance, with over 72% of students passing their courses. However, Ziwa Technical Training Institute also places a strong emphasis on extracurricular activities. The institution’s sports teams have competed favorably at regional and national levels, including the ongoing KATTI National Ball Games Season Two hosted by Eldoret National Polytechnic.

Mr. Joseph, who also serves as the National Chairman for Sports and Recreation, emphasized the importance of a holistic education approach. “We ensure that all institutions participate in ball games, athletics, drama, and music, fostering well-rounded development for our students,” he noted.

The upcoming graduation ceremony will be graced by Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, Principal Secretary for Technical and Vocational Training, along with other distinguished guests. The event will be livestreamed to accommodate graduates and their families who are unable to attend in person.

“We are excited to welcome parents, political leaders, stakeholders, and our graduates to this landmark event,” Mr. Joseph said. “This graduation not only celebrates the achievements of our students but also highlights the growth and potential of Ziwa Technical Training Institute as a leading institution in technical education.”

As Ziwa Technical Training Institute prepares for this momentous occasion, it continues to build on its legacy of excellence in both academic and extracurricular endeavors, contributing to the broader goal of national development through technical and vocational education.
