According to Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport, Energy and Public Works Engineer Gideon Birir, the achievements made by his department in the implementation of infrastructural development projects have not only enhanced road network and connectivity but also security and promoted a good environment for doing business hence attracting more investors. He says his team of engineers have always ensured delivery of quality and sustainable projects which include lighting and standard roads.

Mr. Shadrack Juma is one of the seasoned traders in Eldoret town, he recounted how security was a major challenge before the devolution system of governance came into place. He said infrastructural projects under the leadership of H.E Governor Jackson Mandago have played a big role in improving security along Juma Haji Supermarket to Sosiani Building commonly referred to by the traders as “Yellow Road “a stretch he said stealing and mugging were the order of the day before the devolved unit enhanced security.

Juma who operates several boutique shops in the town’s central business district added that many customers used to lose their belongings and valuables to the pickpockets but since Governor Mandago came to power things changed for the better.

“Right now, you can see people walk freely and safely and we don’t hear cries of those whose phones and handbags have been snatched. Mandago has really tried to remove congestion in town. The cases of theft are not common as it used to be,”said Juma.

Juma says things also changed in estates where thieves used to thrive, he mentioned Nyathiru area, Tairi Mbili to Joy land, Asis area, Maili Nne center, Kona Mbaya in Langas estate as some of the areas he used to hear frequent stories of robbery.
