Again, resist the temptation of calling your spiritual mentors mom and dad. You can show love and appreciation to them while still using the right titles like Pastor and Mrs Pastor.

Mother and father or their variances are parenting titles and therefore they’re not only too powerful but also permanent. When you give someone parenting authority you find it very difficult to disagree with their advice or to measure with objectivity the guidance they give you. You want their ‘parental’ blessings and you fear to activate curses for dizpleasing them. Yet they’re not really your parents but mentors. Mentorship relationships have beginnings and endings and you may go through many of them in the course of life. Parent position, on the other hand, is permanent.

Better to exercise wisdom and moderation in everything so that you to retain your freedom to move here or there without unnecessary guilt and obligations.
