SLOVAKIA IN DIGITAL SPACE PROMOTION IN BUSIA COUNTY

The Slovak Republic has partnered with the County Government of Busia to promote digital space in the county and areas including Agriculture, Environmental Management and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Addressing the press after a meeting with the county leadership led by Deputy Governor, HE Moses Mulomi, Slovakia Ambassador to Kenya H.E Mrs. Katarina Zuffa Leligdonova said they have identified areas of cooperation with the County Government of Busia.

” Afforestation is critical area targeting smart solutions specifically agriculture and climate change mitigation. We are also keen on empowering women and digitizaton programs in primary schools, ” she said.

H.E Mulomi thanked the Slovak Republic for its long cordial relations with the County Government in various areas such as agriculture, ICT and education among others which he said is a noble idea worth appreciating.

The Deputy Governor said rising Lake levels has led to displacement of many people leading to resettlement challenges, thus the need for the collaboration to tame them.

Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ababu Namwamba said Slovakia has already rolled out digitization in seven primary schools in Bunyala and appealed for the program to be cascaded to other sub counties.

He said the school digitization program will be followed by installation of digital hub in Busia town that will make the county a centre of knowledge that will provide its digital capacity.

Other areas that county leadership need collaborative efforts from the Slovak include more youth centres, installation of hotspots to help empower the youths.
