County Government of Trans Nzoia Launches Mass Vaccination

The County Government of Trans Nzoia through the department of health has today launched mass vaccination campaign to achieve the national target of vaccinating more than 3 Million Kenyans within ten days.

Speaking during the stakeholders meeting and the launching of the campaign, Trans Nzoia County CEC for health Claire Wanyama said the department in the county is targeting more than 70,000 people vaccinated against covid 19 in the county.

The CEC said so far the county has vaccinated more than 7188,000 people with 87,000 being fully vaccinated and called for more people to come out in large number and be vaccinated adding that the vaccines are safe for.

The CEC called of the members of the public and religious leaders to be the ambassador of the activity by allowing the health work from the department to have their place as vaccination centres to ensure that all the targeted persons are vaccinated.

She also asked those in charge of the learning institution across the county to allow health workers to go and vaccinate children above 15 year of age.

Claire said the exercise is targeting learning institutions, public places, churches and mosques and those with co-morbidities within the members of the public.

She further said that the county health workers will be pitching tents in various parts of the county through the outreach programs in various public places in the county with an aim of achieving the targets.

Claire said the county has all the four types of vaccines in the various hospitals across the county calling on the resident to take any of the vaccines.

She dispelled the notion that some vaccines are more superior vaccine than other vaccines.

Mrs Wanyama also cautioned the members of the public against breaking the ministry of health regulations on wearing of face masks, washing of hands and keeping social distance after getting the vaccination urging that the vaccine only boosts the body immunity against the covid19 virus but does not prevent any persons from contracting the virus.

She said the greatest challenge the department is facing is the taboos and bad perception from uninformed mind, while other people are not yet fully convinced that vaccination is safe.

She gave an assurance that the vaccines are safe for everyone with the age of 15 and above.
