Baringo governor Benjamin Cheboi on Saturday made an impromptu visit to Eldama Ravine Sub-County hospital accompanied by Deputy Governor H.E Charles Kipngok, MCAs elect Hon Julius Ngotie, Hon Robert Kipsang, Hon Lawi Tallam, Hon Kennedy Kiprono, and Hon Solomon Kariuki whereby I established there is an acute shortage of drugs.

He says he commits to ensuring that our hospitals are well stocked with drugs; motivate our staff and work closely to ensure that their working environment is supportive and conducive.

” I have contacted the CEO KEMSA who has promised that drugs will be on hospital counters in the next three weeks.We will ensure that there is efficient and stable service delivery of Medicine and also track medicine at the counter that is issued to patients to avoid loss and theft of drugs. To achieve this, we will come up with a tracking system and information system that have a clear reporting line for decision-making on the continuous availability of drugs at our hospitals,”he said.

He noted that Improving human health and providing access to affordable, high-quality health care is a key concern of his administration .

” It is not only an ethical and social imperative; it is also a necessary ingredient for the sustainable long-term improvement of our populations’ health status and the quality of care; the extension of coverage and equal access to health care for all; and the sustainable financing of health care systems,” he added.

He reiterated that his administration will also empower health workers through training, continuous career development, orientation, and exchange programs to learn about facilitatory approaches by the government for effective engagement with the private sector and other stakeholders.

“Healthcare is a devolved function and we will ensure that our hospitals are well stocked with drugs; motivate our staff and work closely to ensure that their working environment is supportive and conducive,” he added.
