H.E Governor Wisely Rotich this morning received a consignment of pharmaceutical supplies worth SH7 million at the Iten County Referral Hospital ICRH, delivered by the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency KEMSA.

True to his word, Governor Rotich had on Wednesday engaged the KEMSA management in Nairobi over the pertinent situation facing health facilities in Elgeyo Marakwet.

This is the first consignment and the supplies Agency is going to deliver other consignments in course of the week that will be distributed to all health facilities across the County, said Governor Rotich.

He however put on notice pharmacy officials over theft of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies saying:” We cannot be struggling like this to obtain these drugs and the next day you hear other stories about theft,”
The governor called wananchi to be on the look and report any cases where government labelled drugs bearing KEMSA or GOK were on sale.

Meanwhile, Rotich issued directive to ICRH management to ensure that no patient is sent to purchase drugs in private Chemists.

“As Iten County Referral Hospital, you need to make arrangements to purchase any other essential drugs that are not available in this delivery and therefore, I don’t want to hear again cases where patients are referred to private Chemists,” Rotich told the facility management.
Health Chief officer Mary Kipchumba and ICRH Medical Superintendent Benjamin Kimaile and hospital staff were present
