The County Government of Uasin Gishu and the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) have discussed on a raft of issues revolving around bolstering and improving healthcare.

Speaking as he hosted AMPATH leadership led by Chief of Party, Prof Sylvester Kimaiyo, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii underscored that health is top on priority agendas of his administration.

“My administration takes health quite critically and needless to say, it is number two on our ten pillars of development agendas,” said Bii.

The County boss furthers, “It is for this reason that we take very keen interest on parnerships like (AMPATH) and many others.”

The meeting with Ampath comes a day after the Governor led a visit to the county drugs store and the Uasin Gishu District hospital, a sign that sleeves are rolled ready for work.

Also speaking at the meeting, Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot said the County Government is moving fast to introduce technology in the health sector.

“Embracing technology is what this government is working on for purposes of management of drugs stocks as well as improving on management of personnel,” said Eng. Barorot.

Setting up infrastructure, partnering in management of chronic diseases such as HIV/AIDS and research are among the issues discussed.
