Red Cross Northrift Region Hosts First Aid Regional Competition
The Kenya Red Cross Northrift region on Saturday held a mega North Rift 2022 First Aid competition om.
The competition was meant to assess the skills learnt by First Aiders volunteers both from the junior and senior categories.
The participants were categorized into 5 categories which included junior, secondary,Tertiary, Arcard and Cooperates.
The competition which comprised of both theory and practical was presided over by thev adjudicators.
*Winners*
At the junior category team Echo emerged victorious against Rescue Rangers.
Swiss won at the secondary category as the stars came second on the list.
At tertiary level,team Flash emerged winners after defeating team Mzalendo.
At the Red Cross Action category there were five teams that took part.The teams included Eveready, Simba,Team Z,team Angels,Team Titans.Eveready won.
In the cooperate where Unga Limited and Khetias-Kitale branch participated.Jogoo(Unga Limited) carried the trophy.
The North Rift Regional Manager Esther Chege urged participants to normalize the practice by doing it on daily basis to familiarize themselves on what is supposed to be done incase of an emergency.
“We are all winners. Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you who participated in this competition,”said Chege.
*Next Competition*
The national competition willm take place on September, Thursday 8th.
“We are hoping and believing that our team our ambassadors will emerge position one.We want to see number one coming from North Rift Region,”said Esther Chege.
All five teams are going to participate in the national level.
Chege urged her teams to practice more.
The competition involved how to handle casualties,attacking the wound,handling the fractured bones of legs and hands among others.
