I will Ensure Residents Have Clean Water- Governor Jonathan Bii

Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii now says on the bid of Eldoret to be a city he will ensure that residents have clean and piped water.

Speaking to the press during the visit Governor Bii said this will ensure that residents don’t walk for long distances looking for water.

“As we are looking forward to Eldoret becoming a city one of the important things is water supply which we will ensure reaches all corners of Eldoret. I will also partner with the Elgeyo Marakwet governor to help accomplish a good water supply network,” said Bii.

Bii called on residents to conserve the environment by planting more indigenous trees to protect water catchment areas noting that climate change will affect the sources.

Bii said that he is ready to carry forward the water projects that the previous administration began with him beginning New projects and expanding them.

Peter Kibet, Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) Manging Director said the aim of Moiben Water Treatment is to supply residents with clean portable water and he, therefore, urged the governor to make haste in completing the works that are not yet completed.

“Since water is needed in everything we do on daily basis, we shall ensure that the water supply network is good and this is going to build a good relationship with the community. I, therefore, urged our governor to help us in the completion of Kipkaren Water Treatment Works to aid the success of it,” said Kibet.

Mary Njogu, Environment and Water CEC said that they shall put up a rural water company to supply clean portable water not only to the municipality but also to the rural areas.

She said that they have a tree planting initiative to conserve the environment and that committees at the ward level were chosen to overlook the initiative, therefore she encouraged all residents of Eldoret to take part in environment conservation

“Climate changes will come with different effects, therefore I urge every one of us to be deliberate with environment conservation, mitigation and adaptation to climate change,” said Njogu.
