Dan Kipkorir Ruto Declares Interest For the Elgeyo Marakwet Senatorial Seat

Dan Kipkorir Ruto alias Dan Dan has declared his interest in the Elgeyo Marakwet senatorial bid.

This comes after President William Ruto appointed Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen  as Cabinet secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works.

He is 31 years old.

Ruto is currently the owner of the award-winning Fashion Wear Dsquare Wears and Dsquare School of Fashion Design and Tailoring Eldoret.

Ruto who was  born and bred in Elgeyo Marakwet County says while in campus he formed a movement dubbed ‘Youth for Christ and Education Movement’ whose objective was to empower youths, reach out to society and help the less fortunate in society.

Ruto is married to one wife with two kids.

“With the movement, we traversed to the entire Elgeyo Marakwet County where we reached to a lot of people in giving back to the society,” he said.

He says his aim is not about changing his status from a businessman to a politician but the urge to serve the residents of Elgeyo Marakwet.

“What drives me is the inner force that I need to serve the people of Elgeyo Marakwet. I know Kipchumba Murkomen is a big name but I am confident I have the capacity and the qualification to take over from him,” said Ruto.

“The quest for a better Elgeyo Marakwet opens a new page. Our People have remained hopeful for better infrastructure, healthcare, education, and most importantly enhanced security. These can be achieved through proper representation, proactive legislation, and lobbying for more allocation of national revenue to EMC,” he added.

He says with vast experience he is ready to serve the people of Elgeyo Marakwet.
“With a vast experience in Accounting, Investment, Mentorship, and Entrepreneurship, I am prepared to fill the already big shoes that shall soon be vacated by my senior and hereby wish to tender my Candidature as the next Senator of Elgeyo Marakwet County,” he said.

Ruto says he wants to be a unifying factor for all the leaders in Elgeyo Marakwet.

“We should work together from MCA to the governor for the betterment of the people of Elgeyo Marakwet. Whenever we have the unity it will be easier for us to lobby for any other project that we want in our county,” he said.
Ruto says he believes that the residents of Elgeyo Marakwet will endorse his candidature.

“I believe that people who are going to elect me are back in Elgeyo Marakwet , am not a coward because the push is bringing me is to serve the people of Elgeyo Marakert and convince them that I need to serve them, if the people are going to endorse me is the best feeling ever,” he added.
