Chepkoilel Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Branch Executive Secretary Sammy Bor, has asked the school heads and parents to agree on school fee payments to avoid sending students home.

Speaking to the press Bor sympathized with the students who have had their education interrupted on several occasions, especially the form four students due to lack of fees.

“Our children have gone through difficult moments, during the covid and post covid periods, elections and so many other things. Where most of their parents lost their jobs. We are requesting principals and parents to sit down and look at an alternative way of paying fees to prevent them from being sent home every now and then,” said Bor.

“ I also sympathize with the schools because, they have to feed these children and run the programs of the school which require money, and this money is paid by the parents through school fees but we should use other ways rather than sending them home when they are almost sitting for their National examination,” said Bor.
He called on the Ministry of education to intervene and see how they can help the schools settle down in the meantime.

Bor further said that the appointed of the task force that is to review the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) is on point, saying the task force should move faster.

“The issue of transition is fast approaching and we are yet to transit to the next level as far as junior secondary school is concerned. Therefore, the task force should move very fast in listening to the people, collecting views, and making decisions as early as possible so that the president can give a very clear way forward,” says Sammy Bor.
