Health Department Receives Lion’s Share in 2023-2024 Budget Appropriation Bill

The Trans Nzoia Health Department emerges as the frontrunner in the allocation of funds for the upcoming financial year.

This is according to passed budget appropriation bill presented by County assembly’s Chairman Martin Jamanur.

The bill, approved on Thursday, outlines the distribution of an estimated total budget of sh.9.11 billion.

Notably, the Health Department is set to receive a substantial sum of sh.2.2 billion, encompassing both recurrent and development budgets.

The education sector has been allocated sh.836 million, emphasizing the significance of fostering a robust learning environment.

Agriculture, a vital sector for the region’s economic stability, will receive sh.722 million to support its development initiatives.

public works has been earmarked sh.515 million, while the water and environment sector is allocated sh.505 million.

The lands department will receive sh.452 million, facilitating the management and administration of crucial land resources.

Furthermore, sh.707 million has been allocated to the finance department, underscoring its role in ensuring fiscal responsibility and economic growth.

The gender and sports department will receive sh.293 million to address pertinent issues related to gender equality and empowerment, while governance is set to receive sh.215 million, contributing to effective governance practices.

The department of trade has been granted sh.448 million, aiming to promote commerce and stimulate economic growth.

In a much-awaited development, the Kitale Municipal Board, whose services have faced prolonged delays, will now receive sh.68 million, reinvigorating its operations.

Additionally, the Trans Nzoia County Public Service Board will be allocated sh.88 million, while the county assembly of Trans Nzoia is set to spend sh.991 million to ensure the smooth functioning of its services.

The budget, which spans from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, signifies the county’s commitment to prioritizing key sectors for the welfare and development of its citizens.

The allocation of significant funds to the Health Department reflects a concerted effort to address healthcare needs and enhance public well-being.
