Miano Reaffirms Her Commitment to Environmental Conservation

East Africa Community, ASALs and Regional Development cabinet Secretary The Honorable Rebecca Miano has reaffirmed her unwavering and unmatched dedication towards environmental sustainability and protection.

To confirm this the Hon CS alongside fellow Cabinet Secretaries, accompanied his excellency the President Dr William Ruto to the The Kaptagat Forest Ecosystem.

His Excellency noted” The Kaptagat Forest Ecosystem is a critical catchment area supporting thousands of livelihoods in Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans-Nzoia and Uasin Gishu Counties. It not only supplies water for irrigation and domestic use but also offers the right training environment for our thriving sportsmen and women. We undertake to work with partners to rehabilitate and restore this key ecosystem.

In Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet, presided over the 7th Edition of the Kaptagat Annual Tree Planting — part of the Government’s agenda of planting 15 billion trees in the next 10 years — to respond to climate change.

I also launched Yokot Kapteren Integrated Dam and opened a tuition block at St. Alphonsus Mutei Girls’ High School.
