Make Maximum Use of the Nucleus to Remain Afloat- Lusaka to Nzoia

Bungoma governor Kenneth lusaka has called on the Nzoia sugar management to make maximum use of their large nucleus of land.

Speaking while on an inspection tour to assess the state of the firm’s nucleus, the governor said the factory has the Largest nucleus if well utilized will steer it to self-sustainability.

” This is the only mill with such a big land in the entire country and it is unfortunate that it has never been put to maximum use, “Said lusaka.

According to acting managing director Ezron Kotut,Nzoia has more than 4629 hectares. (11,572 acres).

Out of this 3600 hectares ( 9000acres) is the nucleus with only 1600 hectares(4000 acres) having cane.

2000 hectares(5000acres ) lies fallow.

Already the area leaders led by governor Lusaka have negotiated for help from the Agriculture Development Cooperation (ADC)and the National youth service who will help in tilling of the land and planting cane .

This will see the nucleus be put in profitable use.
Currently the firm has closed its operations due to cane shortage.

Area senator Wafula Wakoli and Kanduyi MP John Makali echoed the statements saying as leaders from the region they will do everything to ensure the factory remains viable.
